This Privacy Policy explains what data the TV Sathi mobile application
(Android package in.bharati.tvsathi; "TV Sathi", "the app", "we", "us")
accesses on your device, what we do with it, and the choices you have. TV Sathi is a
Wi-Fi remote control for TVs that support the Android TV / Google TV remote protocol.
Short version. TV Sathi does not have its own backend servers, does not require an account, and does not collect, store, or sell personal data. Pairing and remote control happen on your local Wi-Fi between your phone and your TV.
1. Information the app accesses on your device
- Local network (Wi-Fi). Used only to discover TVs on the same network as your phone and to send remote-control commands to a TV you have paired with. No scan results or device identifiers leave your device.
- Microphone (only if you tap voice search). Audio captured during a voice-search session is processed by your device's speech-to-text service and the resulting text is sent to the TV's voice-search input. We do not record, transmit, or retain raw audio on our servers (we do not operate any servers for this app).
- Internet access. Required for in-app purchases via Google Play Billing and for the optional speech-to-text service used by voice search. The remote control session itself stays on your local network.
2. Information we collect on our servers
We do not operate any servers that receive personal data from TV Sathi. We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, contact lists, location, account information, or usage analytics on infrastructure that we control.
3. Third-party services
- Google Play Billing handles in-app purchases (one-time unlock and/or subscription). Google receives the data necessary to process and refund purchases per the Google Privacy Policy. We receive only purchase tokens needed to unlock paid features locally on your device.
- Google Play Services may collect crash reports and basic diagnostics based on your device-level Google account settings. You can manage this from Settings → Google → Usage & diagnostics on your device.
- On-device speech recognition is provided by your platform (Google Speech) when you use voice search; that interaction is governed by the speech provider's policy.
4. How data is protected
Pairing with a TV uses the standard Android TV remote-protocol pairing flow (a code shown on the TV that you enter on your phone). Remote-control communication after pairing is encrypted end-to-end between your phone and your TV by the underlying protocol, on your local network. Purchase data is handled by Google Play and never passes through us.
5. Children's privacy
TV Sathi is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and provided personal data through one of the third-party services above, please follow that service's deletion process or contact us.
6. Your choices and data deletion
- Locally stored data. Pairing tokens, paired-device names, and preferences (e.g. selected remote skin, language) live in your phone's app storage. Clear them via Settings → Apps → TV Sathi → Storage → Clear data, or by uninstalling the app.
- Purchase records. Manage subscriptions and purchase history at play.google.com/store/account.
- Crash and diagnostics data. Controlled by your device's Google Usage & Diagnostics setting.
7. International users
Because TV Sathi does not transmit personal data to servers we operate, we do not transfer personal data across borders ourselves. Third-party services listed above may operate globally and apply their own transfer safeguards.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the app or in the law. Updates will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
